    These comfortable cotton harem style pants are machine washable and dryable. They have elastic at the waist and ankle and will fit women's sizes 6-14. They are unisex and will adjust from petite to tall lengths.

About A.D.O.S.

Almost all belly dancers eventually develop this extremely common disorder known as A.D.O.S. (Attention Deficit "Oh SHINY!") Lucky for us, it is easily managed with the constant application of materials possessed of the three Gs: glitzy, glamorous, and gorgeous. Hopefully you'll find some of your balm right here. Musings of a green seamstress

It can be difficult to reconcile the desire for new and tasty costume pieces with that for remaining environmentally conscious and keeping oneself from pandering to the corporate gods of consumerism. What can we do!?! I decided to begin by changing my habits when looking for fabric to use. I can thank my niece, who was desperate for a Harry Potter costume the day before the Book 7 release party at our local book store. Everyone was sold out. So off we trouped to the local thrift store where we kitted her out with black pants, white dress shirt, and even a Griffindor colored tie (she wanted to be Harry, of course!), but no robes. Huge dilemma!! Until I saw a king size black flat sheet hanging along the wall in housewares. In one night that black sheet began it's transformation into a wash and wear robe that would do Hogwarts proud. That was my turning point. As long as the fabric was in exquisite shape, why shouldn't it get a new life? I would have to wash it thoroughly before beginning construction, thus ensuring that all my clothing is wash and wear. (Heck, even toss it in the dryer if you like!) Not only can I recycle material, I can pay into systems like Goodwill and the Salvation Army which, in turn, return that money to society in good works for us all. My rules are simple:
1. Use recycled materials wherever possible, except in items for the hair. (Even clean, I'd rather have new stuff in my hair.)
2. Make everything wash & dry. (I wash it and dry it before I design and produce the items, so they're proven wash & wear!)
3. Barter for and accept fabric as gifts. (I don't know a whole lot of people who wouldn't prefer a finished item to a bolt of fabric.)
4. Buy as little new fabric as possible, and then only when it can't be gotten by the previous methods.

We all need beautiful and practical costume pieces. And, we all want to do right by our Mother Earth. These pieces just happen to be the best of both worlds! :)
